Paint-Free Aesthetic Plastics Strategy Research: Industry-Academia Team Explores New Path for Green Plastics Processing
On the morning of June 6, a soft breeze mixed with a light drizzle.
A research delegation, after a long journey, arrived at an aesthetic plastics company.
The group included Qian Yuying, vice president of the Polymer Product Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Research Institute at the National Engineering Center for Novel Polymer Equipment, South China University of Technology, and several colleagues.
They flew from Guangzhou, over 1,500 kilometers away, to join the host in discussing where aesthetic plastics are headed.
The visit was themed “Strategic Research on Paint-Free Aesthetic Plastics,” with a focus on the bottlenecks and challenges facing paint-free plastics development in China.
The project was proposed under the leadership of Professor Qu Jinping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the National Engineering Research Center for Novel Polymer Processing Equipment at South China University of Technology. It seeks to shape policy recommendations for technological innovation in the paint-free aesthetic plastics industry and to advance green, sustainable growth in China’s plastics processing sector.
Academician Qu Jinping is a light industry machinery engineering expert whose main work covers research and teaching in polymer material molding and processing technology, equipment, and related theory.
During the meeting, the Sukeli team gave an in-depth presentation on aesthetic plastics R&D and applications, addressing implementation of national environmental protection policy, a redefinition of paint-free plastics, source-level integration of plastics and CMF, fewer processing steps, and a root solution to paint pollution.
As the leader of the visit, Vice President Qian Yuying raised many key questions and engaged the host company’s executives in a deeper exploration of process methods and technical difficulties, while both sides looked toward the future of aesthetic plastics.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed that the aesthetic plastics industry needs more detailed assessment in economic indicators, environmental advantages, and market potential. Vice President Qian Yuying said she would present the results to the Chinese Academy of Engineering and would closely follow the development of aesthetic plastics.
