PRC Industry Standard: Offset Resin Printing Ink QB/T 1866-93
1 Core Subject and Scope
This standard defines product classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation and storage for offset resin printing ink. It governs ink used on single-, double- or multi-color offset presses and intended for images, trademarks and similar work on offset paper and other printing papers.

6 Inspection Rules
6.1 Factory inspection — 6.1.1 Before delivery, the manufacturer's inspection department must inspect the product; it may leave the plant only after passing inspection with a certificate of conformity. 6.1.2 Factory inspection items are color, fineness, flow and tinting strength. 6.2 Type inspection — 6.2.1 Type inspection is required in any of the following cases: a. trial-production type approval for a new product or an old product transferred to another plant;
b. after formal production, when major changes in structure, materials or process may affect product performance;
c. during normal production, once per year;
d. when production resumes after a long shutdown;
e. when the national quality supervision agency requests type inspection. 6.3 A batch is defined as products of the same color made in the same period. Sampling per batch must be no less than (n/2)1/2 [where n is the total number of drums (cans) in the batch], and at least 20 g must be taken from each drum (can); samples must be clean and sealed. 6.4 If any inspection item fails, re-sampling and re-inspection from the same batch are required. The re-inspection result prevails; if failures remain, the batch is judged nonconforming. 6.5 If supplier and buyer disagree and cannot resolve the matter through negotiation, arbitration inspection may be carried out by a product quality supervision and inspection agency.
7 Marking, Packaging, Transportation and Storage
7.1 Offset resin ink is packed in iron boxes or iron drums; iron boxes are then packed in outer cartons. 7.2 The outside of the iron box or drum must be affixed or printed with the trademark, manufacturer, product name, type designation, product standard number, quantity, weight, batch number, production date and the marking 'Do not turn upside down'. 7.4 Under the packaging conditions in 7.1, transport may use vehicles, ships, aircraft and other means. 7.5 During transportation and handling, throwing, dropping and bumping are prohibited to prevent package damage and ink overflow. 7.6 Open-air storage is not allowed; the warehouse must be dry, ventilated, moisture-proof and kept away from fire. 7.7 Under the storage conditions in 7.6, the effective storage period is two years from the date of production.
This standard was proposed by the Quality Standards Department of the Ministry of Light Industry.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Ink Standardization Center.
Drafting organization: Shanghai Ink Plant.
Main drafter: Jin Zhiwu.
From the implementation date of this standard, former Ministry of Light Industry standard QB555-83, Offset Resin Ink, is void.
