Honghe Prefecture in Yunnan Spot-Checks Net Content of Quantitatively Packaged Goods, Achieving 96% Pass Rate

Published:2026-10-03 · Industry News

National rules require outer packaging to show net content clearly, and the actual weight of a product must not be below the net content printed on that packaging. In a recent check, relevant authorities in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan, examined compliance in this area, with a strong overall result: a 96% pass rate.

Honghe Prefecture mobilized law enforcement officers and metrology testing staff to supervise and inspect the net content of quantitatively packaged products made by manufacturers in its jurisdiction. The action was designed to stop short-weight and consumer-deception practices and to protect the public’s interests.

The inspection prioritized products of public interest and local specialty goods, using random sampling. Under the Measures for the Metrological Supervision and Administration of Quantitatively Packaged Commodities, the average actual content of a batch must be equal to or greater than its marked net content. Samples covered 45 batches from 39 manufacturers. Results showed that most sampled products had marked outer-package weights that differed from actual weights only within the state-prescribed range, while a few had failed net content or incorrect labeling. The pass rate was 96%. For noncompliant cases, quality supervision law enforcement personnel ordered the companies involved to rectify under relevant laws and regulations.

During the random sampling, enforcement staff also increased outreach to enterprises on the Rules for Metrological Inspection of Quantitatively Packaged Commodities. This was intended to help production and business units correctly understand metrological requirements for net content in quantitatively packaged goods, improve metrology awareness, and support lawful production and honest operation.
