Guangdong Expert Panel Clears Local Standard for Shaftless High-Speed Gravure Printing Presses

Guangdong recently held a local-standard review meeting for the draft provincial standard covering shaftless high-speed gravure printing presses. After reviewing supporting materials and holding discussions, the attending experts agreed to approve the standard.

On May 25, the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision convened the review meeting in Guangzhou for the Guangdong provincial local standard 'Shaftless High-Speed Gravure Printing Press' (draft for review). The panel brought together specialists from the Materials Science Institute of Sun Yat-sen University, the Guangdong Provincial Quality Supervision Machinery Inspection Station, the Packaging and Printing Department of Zhongshan Torch Polytechnic, and the College of Light Industry and Food Sciences of South China University of Technology. The draft was prepared by the Guangdong Province Film and Paper Printing Industry Association, Guangdong Shanzhang Light Industry Machinery Co., Ltd., Chaozhou Caida Packaging Machinery Co., Ltd., and the Guangzhou Yuexiu District Yanren Science and Technology Information Consulting Center. The experts listened to the drafting team's presentation, examined the drafting notes and other documents, and, after careful and full discussion, agreed to pass the review.

The session was chaired by Huang Huai, Section Chief of the Guangdong Provincial Standardization Division. Zhang Dingkang, Deputy Director of the same division, attended and called on the experts to conduct a rigorous review of the standard. After deliberation, the experts raised revision suggestions, asked the drafters to revise the document in line with the panel's opinions before submission, and recommended that the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision approve and issue it as a recommended standard.

The local standard stems from an industrial local-standard development plan approved by Guangdong Province under Yue Zhi Jian Biao Han [2012] No. 676, with technical jurisdiction assigned to the Standardization Technical Committee for Film Printing Equipment of Guangdong Province (GD/TC64). Experts said that shaftless high-speed gravure printing presses replace the traditional mechanical transmission model, which can enhance gravure precision and printing efficiency while reducing printing-material loss; they are an advanced type of printing equipment today.

The Guangdong local standard for the 'Shaftless High-Speed Gravure Printing Press' reflects the technological progress of this machine type and is both instructive and practical. Experts believe that creating the standard will help further improve the quality of shaftless high-speed gravure printing presses in Guangdong, provide technical support for local producers of similar machines to achieve standardized and regulated production, and fill the province's technical-standard gap for shaftless high-speed gravure printing presses.
