China Opens Nationwide Call for Drafting Units on Two Packaging Printing National Standards
Industry standards are widely treated as the benchmark for gauging how far an industry's economy has developed. China's economy has expanded markedly in recent years, yet in the standards arena the country has long taken developed nations as its reference point, leaving domestic industries without a strong enough say. To change this, China has been pressing ahead with building its own standards, and the latest step sees authorities inviting applicants to help draft two national standards for packaging printing.
On September 22, 2013, the secretariat of the Packaging Printing Subcommittee under the National Technical Committee for Printing Standardization (SAC/TC170/SC3) issued the Announcement on Soliciting Drafting Units for 2 National Standards on Packaging Printing, seeking drafting participants from across the country.
According to the announcement, the subcommittee intends to further refine the packaging printing standards framework. Acting on the relevant directives of the Standardization Administration of China and the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, SAC/TC170/SC3 plans to establish drafting groups by the end of November 2013 for two national standards — Classification of Packaging Printing Materials and Classification of Packaging Printing Products — so that standards development can begin. The secretariat has therefore decided to openly solicit drafting units for these two standards nationwide, effective from the date of the announcement, and welcomes interested organizations to contact the SAC/TC170/SC3 secretariat.
The national standard projects covered by this call are: 1. Classification of Packaging Printing Materials; and 2. Classification of Packaging Printing Products. Applicant units must: 1. be enterprises formally registered in China; 2. be able to provide the necessary support in technology, equipment, materials, test verification, personnel and funds; and 3. be able to dispatch experts or technical personnel to take part in drafting the standards.
Solicitation period: from the date of the announcement through November 10, 2013.
The National Technical Committee for Printing Standardization expects to hold the founding meeting of the drafting groups for the two national standards by the end of November 2013.
