China Approves Seven National Printing Standards, Effective June 1, 2014

Published:2026-10-03 · Industry News

In recent years, China's printing industry has become more standardized, and the country has gradually gained stronger influence in international standardization. In 2013, the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) formally approved the Printing Technology Association of China to undertake the secretariat of ISO/TC130. Recently, seven additional printing standards in China are about to be implemented.

In March this year, the fourth committee of the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee was established. It proposed a 'three threes' approach for standardization: the direction should advance toward professionalization, marketization and internationalization; standard development should be systematic, advanced and broadly applicable; and working methods should depend on experts, enterprises and the industry. As printing enters a new development stage, this new thinking is expected to push standardization work to a higher level.

On December 31, 2013, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Standardization Administration of China issued National Standard Announcement No. 27 of 2013 of the People's Republic of China. Seven national printing standards were approved and promulgated.

The seven national printing standards are:

GB/T9851.8-2013, Graphic Technology - Vocabulary - Part 8: Digital Printing Terms

GB/T30324-2013, Classification of Digital Printing

GB/T30325-2013, Requirements for Hardbound Books

GB/T30326-2013, Requirements for Paperback Books

GB/T30327-2013, General Requirements for Post-press Processing

GB/T30328-2013, Classification of Post-press Processing Materials

GB/T30329.1-2013, Graphic Technology - Colour and Transparency of Printing Ink Sets for Four-Colour Printing - Part 1: Sheet-Fed and Heatset Web Offset Lithographic Printing

Reports indicate that the seven national printing standards will officially take effect on June 1, 2014.
