The top spout may be straight, angled or valve-equipped, giving controlled pouring and less liquid clinging at the mouth. When larger fills need carrying, a handle hole or integrated handle can be added. The pouch structure is adapted to either automatic filling equipment or manual filling.

The construction typically combines PET, nylon, aluminium foil and PE in a multi-layer laminate. The inner layer can be formulated for acidic or alkaline contents, helping the pouch resist alkali, compression and leakage. Printing is done by 1-8 colour gravure, producing distinct image layers, with matte, gloss or spot varnish options. Ordinary volumes range from 100ml to 5L; bag width, spout diameter, film thickness and seal width are all made to order. Matching roll film in the same material is available.
