It is built for liquid food packaging, with tomato sauce and jelly named in the product and liquid sauces, jam and similar products in the same application group. The shaped outline and spout allow squeeze dispensing, while the folded base lets the filled pouch stand for display and portioned use.

The pouch body is made from laminated material, with foil included in the composite as a barrier layer against light, oxygen and moisture; this suits sauces that need colour and flavour protection. Shaped pouches are die-cut to outline, and the spout weld and self-standing bottom fold are the two areas to control during bag making.

Sauces are often viscous, so the spout channel diameter needs to match the particle size of the contents; otherwise, dispensing can clog or flow too slowly. A trial pouch helps confirm the right outlet size.
