Wenzhou Packaging Output Set to Top RMB 40 Billion in 2019 as 611 Above-Scale Firms Embrace Smart Manufacturing and Innovation
On January 8, 2020, the Wenzhou Packaging Federation convened the second meeting of its seventh membership congress, focusing attention on the city's packaging sector.
The meeting reviewed 2019's gains, changes, and highlights.
In 2019, Wenzhou's packaging industry pursued transformation and upgrading
and innovation, with standout developments; estimates indicate that
the city's 611 above-scale packaging enterprises will generate more than RMB 40 billion in total industrial output for the full year.
Data from the Municipal Bureau of Statistics show that from January to November 2019, the city's 611 above-scale packaging enterprises recorded
RMB 29.589 billion in total industrial output, up 8.9% year on year; RMB 27.635 billion in main business (sales) revenue, up 4.7%; and RMB 1 billion in total profit, up 4.5%.
December is the peak period for corporate collections. 'A full-year industrial output value of over RMB 40 billion is achievable,'
a representative of the Municipal Packaging Federation said.
Enterprise smart transformation and upgrading gain pace
Achieving such a 'harvest' amid numerous difficulties and pressures was no easy feat; it rested on new progress in digital, intelligent, and networked development among packaging companies, as well as active advancement of integration of informatization and industrialization, digital workshops, and intelligent factories.
Zhejiang Dongjing Technology Co., Ltd. integrated industry resources to explore a 'packaging + Internet' approach and took the lead in establishing the 'Yilu Haoyun' platform, becoming a national model for 'integration of informatization and industrialization' and reform and innovation in the packaging industry.
Built on Hualian Machinery Group Co., Ltd. and jointly developed with upstream and downstream units, the 'Wenzhou Intelligent Packaging Manufacturing Innovation Center' was listed as a municipal-level innovation center.
According to incomplete statistics from the Municipal Packaging Federation, in 2019 member enterprises invested a total of RMB 175.53 million and launched 15 technical transformation projects; another 6 member enterprises invested RMB 1.05105 billion in construction funds and launched intelligent factory construction projects.
Industry scientific and technological innovation yields abundant results
In 2019, the Packaging Machinery Standards Studio of the Wenzhou Packaging Federation helped industry enterprises apply for more than 210 patents and related projects, with industry scientific and technological innovation delivering ongoing results.
Among them, Zhejiang Jinshi Packaging Co., Ltd. won the first batch of specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative 'little giant' awards from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the first prize of the China Packaging Industry Science and Technology Award; Penta Laser (Wenzhou) Co., Ltd. was named a 2019 Zhejiang hidden champion enterprise; and three enterprises—Penta Laser (Wenzhou) Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Ruian Yaoji Technology Co., Ltd., and Zhejiang Zhongxing Steel Pipe Machinery Co., Ltd.—won 'Zhejiang Province First Set' projects.
