Shanghai Paper Packaging Summit Draws 200+ Leaders to Explore Low-Carbon and Paper-for-Plastic Growth

The inaugural China Paper Packaging Industry Chain Cooperation Conference took place on July 13 at the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai, concluding successfully. Jointly organized by the China Paper Industry Chamber of Commerce under the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, the China Packaging Federation and Reed Exhibitions, and solely sponsored by China Paper Investment Co., Ltd., the event centered on the theme 'Linking Trust, Sharing New Growth.' More than 200 representatives from across the paper packaging value chain attended by invitation to assess the industry's present situation and direction amid the new economic climate.

Opening remarks came from Li Jianhua, Chairman of the Paper Industry Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Huatai Group. Wang Yuezhong, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Packaging Federation, and Huang Xin, Vice President of the Paper Industry Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of China Paper, then delivered separate opening keynotes.

During the 'Carbon Path Pioneers' session, speakers explored paper packaging carbon neutrality from multiple angles. Dr. Chu Yin, Professor at the University of International Relations and an economics and international relations expert; Han Wenke, Senior Advisor and former Director-General of the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission and Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Macroeconomic Research; Zeng Shaojun, Professional Vice President and Secretary-General of the China New Energy Chamber of Commerce; China Paper Investment Co., Ltd.; Zheng Xianjun, Chairman of International Jifeng; and Wang Hongtao, Professor at Sichuan University, addressed trends, policy, pathways, actions, case studies and solutions.

The conference then moved through three ceremonies: the launch of the Zero-Carbon Action for the Entire Paper Packaging Industry Chain, the launch of the Carbon Accounting and Target Advancement Center, and the awarding of the first batch of demonstration enterprises.

In the afternoon, under the 'Linking New Growth' theme, Chen Lu, Senior Director of Xiaomi's Ecological Chain; Tang Dahai, Head of Strategy at Yuto Group; Ma Bin, Vice President of Tencent; Chen Chunjie, Senior Analyst at Fastmarkets RISI; Li Lintong, Executive President and Vice President of the Dongjingyi.com Packaging Industry Internet Research Institute; and Xu Linhua, Packaging Design Manager at ASUS Technology, spoke on topics including 'Xiaomi Packaging, Designed for the Future,' 'Outlook on the Development Trends of China's Paper and Paper Packaging Industry Chain,' 'Exploration of Digital Industrial Paths,' 'Analysis and Market Outlook of China's Packaging Paper Industry,' 'Dongjingyi.com's Successful Practice in Exploring Paper Packaging + Internet,' and 'Creative Reduction Design of Electronic Packaging Structures.'

The 'Paper for Plastic' segment followed, featuring Zhang Tao, Packaging Innovation Manager of Meituan Waimai's Social Responsibility Office; Jiang Ejun, Sales and Marketing Director of Stora Enso China Packaging; Xia Xiaohui, Director of Packaging Paper Business Development for UPM Specialty Papers Asia-Pacific; Luo Mingxiang, Marketing and Technology Director of Solenis; and Zhou Yongping, Asia-Pacific Business Manager of Covestro. Their presentations covered 'Meituan Waimai Qingshan Plan — Practice in Advancing Green Food Delivery Packaging,' 'Pulp Molding — Walking the Path to Lead the Era,' 'Joining Hands Across the Entire Industry Chain to Broaden New Applications of Paper for Plastic,' 'Technology Solutions and Policy Paths for Paper for Plastic in Europe and America,' and 'Development Direction of New Paper-Based Materials Under the New Policies of Plastic Ban and Plastic Reduction,' offering attendees fresh insights.

That evening, the 'Dongjingyi.com Night — Appreciation Dinner of the First China Paper Packaging Industry Chain Cooperation Conference' was held successfully, bringing the event to a joyful close.
