ProPak & FoodPack China 2020 Wraps Up with 29,330 Trade Visitors; Next Edition Set for June 23-25, 2021 in Shanghai

The 2020 Shanghai processing and packaging joint exhibition has drawn to a close. Serving as the year’s final major gathering for the processing and packaging sector, it ran alongside branded shows for healthy ingredients, food ingredients, the Great Health Expo and the starch industry, occupying six halls at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) with 160,000 square meters of display space. The event connected multiple stages of the food chain in a one-stop format. Concurrent summit forums and innovation technology exchange sessions addressed cutting-edge trends, technology innovation, policy and regulation interpretation, industry expansion and brand promotion, helping the food processing and packaging machinery industry upgrade and improve efficiency.

Organized through deep collaboration between ProPak China and FoodPack China, the joint exhibition covered packaging machinery, food processing, liquid processing, weighing and metering equipment, packaging materials and containers, and label printing technology, as well as industrial robots, warehousing and logistics, and quality inspection equipment. With a “grand slam” processing and packaging scope, it linked processing and packaging operations across food, beverage, dairy, personal care, fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceutical, health and electronics sectors in one place. This edition gathered 768 exhibiting companies and drew more than 100 overseas brands from the United States, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Singapore and other markets, showcasing results of connecting global expertise with Chinese opportunities. It also brought China’s processing and packaging market internationally advanced machinery, production technology, innovative R&D outcomes and sustainable packaging concepts.

The show also assembled a strong manufacturer lineup. Notable exhibitors included Yongchuang Intelligent, Hualian, Zhongya, Yuedong, Bihai, Wuhan Rentian, Pulisi, Atom, Guerqi, Sibide, Dajiang, Sutian, Songchuan, Brother, Huituo, Jin'an, Yilin, Danone, Bosda, Weikeda, Hengli, Xiangyang, Dahe, Yilong, Yihe, Jiayi, Komatsu, Xingpaike, Yuan'an, Taichuan, Nissin, Shenlong, Little Yellow Bee, Mettler-Toledo, Aetna, AFA, Apollo, Fortress, Fuji Machinery, Koch, Ishida, Strapack, Wolf, Thermo Fisher and others.

As a one-stop sourcing and trade platform spanning the full industrial chain, the event benefited from upstream and downstream synergies with the concurrent Healthy Ingredients Show, Food Ingredients Show and Starch Show. It attracted strong attention from professional buyers in China and abroad. Buyers and users from food, beverage, dairy, fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, personal care and other end markets visited the show, which received 29,330 professional visitors over three days.

Visiting companies included Danone, Pepsi, Starbucks, Mars Food, Unilever, Coca-Cola, Suntory, Tsingtao Beer, Sanyuan Foods, Beingmate, Nestlé, China Resources Snow Breweries, Wahaha, Junlebao, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Amway, Jiangzhong Pharmaceutical, Greenland, RT-Mart, Dongjin Group, Glico, Lifeng, Cargill, Want Want China, Damuhan, Shanghai Jahwa, Koushuiwa, Beiersdorf, New Hope Group and Yan Zhong. These firms viewed the 2020 finale processing and packaging trade event as important, engaging in deep exchanges with exhibitors to seek cooperation, seize the golden window for industry recovery and capture new market opportunities.

The exhibition hosted several innovation technology forums and activities, with in-depth discussions on automation solutions for the packaging machinery industry, anti-counterfeiting and traceability solutions, packaging innovation, food and beverage label marking, food safety and other topics. Well-known industry experts and scholars were invited, delivering a series of insightful sessions where innovative ideas converged.

The 2020 Yangtze River Delta Food Industry Innovation and Development Forum and the Yangtze River Delta Famous and Excellent Food Brand Building Exchange Conference, jointly created by the joint exhibition and the Yangtze River Delta Food Industry Innovation Cooperation Alliance, focused on optimizing regional resource allocation, advancing industrial transfer and collaborative technological innovation, and promoting integrated, high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta food industry. This year’s conference centered on the challenges and opportunities facing China’s food industry after the COVID-19 pandemic. It consisted of three parts: the 2020 Yangtze River Delta Food Industry Innovation and Development Forum, the Yangtze River Delta Famous and Excellent Food Brand Building Exchange Conference, and the Food Park Innovation and Development Forum and Yangtze River Delta Food Industry Scientific and Technological Achievements Release Conference. More than 400 representatives from governments, parks, food-related universities and enterprises in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui and other places attended.

The “2020 7th Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Offline Closed-Door Private Board Meeting — Special Session on Packaging and Great Health Trends” was successfully held during the joint exhibition. Chaired by Mr. Chen Jie, Director of the Oriental Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Center, it gathered executives from more than 30 fast-moving consumer goods brand owners, retailers and supply chain enterprises, including Yihe Machinery, Yier Mei, Haichuan, Greenland, Kangcheng Investment, Dongjin, Glico, Lifeng, Cargill, Want Want, Suntory, Shanghai Jahwa, OATLY, Hema, Ruoyuchen and Rousselot. They exchanged and shared views on packaging and great health trends, peak-season sales expectations and key priorities.

The “Leading the Change for the Future” Intelligent Packaging Innovation Forum and the book “China Packaging Compendium — Mould Volume” attracted more than 200 peers from upstream and downstream of the fast-moving consumer goods industry chain. They listened to technical experts discuss intelligent packaging innovation and sustainable development trends. The release of “China Packaging Compendium — Mould Volume” also took place on site, introducing essential fast-moving consumer goods mould design, manufacturing and management technology and innovation trends to industry technicians, so that more engineers, students and packaging enthusiasts can quickly master mould technology in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.

The 2nd Summit of the Packaging Machinery Industry Supply Chain Alliance, hosted by the Yangtze River Delta Intelligent Packaging Service Platform and co-organized by the China Packaging Machinery Portal and Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co., Ltd., was also held at the venue. Focusing on hot topics such as automation solutions, anti-counterfeiting and traceability solutions and packaging application cases, speakers from major outstanding enterprises delivered excellent presentations. The Innovation and Sustainable Development Packaging Forum and other related activities were also held during the exhibition.

Booking for the 2021 exhibition is now open. The next Shanghai International Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Exhibition joint show (ProPak & FoodPack China) will take place on June 23-25, 2021 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
