Print & Packaging Trade Shows Reschedule Amid Pandemic: Multiple Postponements, drupa Still Uncertain

Published:2026-10-03 · Industry News

As the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak spreads across China and overseas, cities and provinces have been postponing or canceling large public events. In the printing and packaging sector, organizers have announced new dates or delays for several key trade shows to protect exhibitor and visitor health, maintain show quality and safeguard business interests. The following list is not exhaustive.

The 27th South China International Printing Industry Exhibition

To strengthen COVID-19 prevention and control, and to protect exhibitors and visitors, organizers cited the Supplementary Notice on Responding to the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic from the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce notice on suspending large-scale exhibitions citywide. The 27th South China International Printing Industry Exhibition and the 2020 China International Label Printing Technology Exhibition, originally scheduled for March 4-6, 2020 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, will be postponed. New dates will be announced later based on actual conditions.

2020 Hangzhou Printing and Packaging Industry Exhibition

Following government requirements and talks with the venue, the organizing committee of the Hangzhou Printing and Packaging Industry Exhibition decided to move the event, originally set for April 16-18, 2020 at the Hangzhou International Expo Center (main venue of the G20 Summit), to November 16-18, 2020. The venue remains unchanged.

2020 Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair

After a comprehensive review by organizers Huagang International Exhibition Co., Ltd. and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the 2020 (15th) Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair, originally scheduled for April 27-30 at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, will be rescheduled to July 25-28, 2020. It will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre alongside the Hong Kong International Gifts and Premium Fair and other events at the same venue and time.

2020 Dena - Chengdu All in Print

Since the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak began, the country has attached great importance to prevention and control. In response to the Notice of the Chengdu Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Command and other documents, and to support epidemic control, avoid large gatherings, prevent spread and protect the health and lives of exhibitors and visitors, 2020 Dena - Chengdu All in Print, originally scheduled for March 13-15, 2020 at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center, will be postponed. The organizer will monitor the outbreak, stay in touch with the venue and relevant departments, and arrange new dates. Once the adjustment plan is confirmed, it will notify participants promptly and assist with follow-up arrangements.

2020 China Packaging Container Exhibition

To further implement COVID-19 prevention and control and protect the safety and health of exhibitors, visitors and partners, organizers cited the Supplementary Notice on Responding to the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic from the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province. The 2020 China Packaging Container Exhibition, originally scheduled for April 9-11, 2020 at the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center in Houjie, Dongguan, will be postponed to July 22-24, 2020.

2020 World Media Festival City of Art - Central China (Changsha) Printing Industry Expo

To fully support the fight against the epidemic and ensure the health and safety of exhibitors and visitors, the 2020 World Media Festival City of Art - Central China (Changsha) Printing Industry Expo, originally scheduled for April 10-12 this year at Mango Hall - Hunan International Convention and Exhibition Center, will be postponed to June 8-10 this year. The venue remains unchanged.

Among the many printing and packaging exhibitions, the most watched is drupa, held once every four years. The organizer previously said it would make full preparations and hold the show as scheduled, but given the current global pandemic situation, whether it can open on time remains uncertain. Due to the coronavirus situation, Messe Duesseldorf has canceled a series of events planned for March and early April, but said it currently has “no intention” of postponing Interpack or Drupa.

When the epidemic inflection point will arrive is still unknown. Industry development matters, but people's lives and safety must come first. The list above covers only recent postponements; more organizers may issue announcements, so the industry should keep watching. May the outbreak end soon, and may we await the warmth of spring.
