Choosing Plastic Pallets: Bottom Styles, Load Ratings and Industry Applications Explained

In turnover and warehousing operations, plastic pallets are an indispensable piece of logistics equipment. More and more industries are adopting them, and plastic pallets have steadily become a familiar sight on the warehouse floor.

Grouped by bottom shape, plastic pallets mainly fall into five categories: grid-deck three-runner, flat-deck three-runner, grid-deck field-shaped (Tian-style), grid-deck nine-leg, and flat-deck nine-leg.

These pallets deliver strong load-bearing performance — 4T static load, 1.5T dynamic load and 1T on racking. Fitting steel tubes inside raises the load capacity further and extends the pallet's service life. That makes them suitable for all kinds of goods, and they can also be used together with forklifts and other logistics equipment.

Motorized forklifts can enter from all four directions, while manual pallet trucks enter through the opening.

Flat-deck three-runner type: its performance is close to that of the grid three-runner version, but the flat surface is easier to clean, making it suitable for industries with strict hygiene requirements such as food, pharmaceuticals and slaughtering.

Flat-deck pallets also differ by molding process: a one-piece injection-molded model reaches 4T static load, 1.5T dynamic load and 1T on racking; an injection-molded plus secondary-welded model reaches 6T static load, 2T dynamic load and 1T on racking.

With a uniform bottom structure and stable load distribution (4T static, 1.5T dynamic, 1T on racking), this design can be stacked layer upon layer, which suits warehousing and logistics centers, export-oriented enterprises and similar operations.

Flat-deck field-shaped (Tian-style) type: made by injection molding plus secondary welding, it offers high load capacity — 6T static, 2T dynamic and 1T on racking. Field-shaped pallets accept four-way entry from motorized forklifts only.

Double-sided type: available in grid-deck and flat-deck versions. The grid version is one-piece injection molded, while the flat version is injection molded plus secondary welded. Both reach 6T static load, 2T dynamic load and 1T on racking, and both are intended for motorized forklifts with four-way entry only.

Another category carries lighter loads: 1T static and 0.5T dynamic, and it cannot be placed on racking, so it is suited to products that are light in weight but large in volume.

The flat-deck version of this design works well for stacking goods in supermarkets and retail stores.

Its flat surface is easy to clean and disinfect, and goods are less likely to spill, so it fits food processing and production environments.
