China Approves 16 Industry Standards, with 11 Printing Rules Covering Smart Manufacturing and Flexible Film Devices Effective November 1

The National Press and Publication Administration has issued a notice approving 16 industry standards, headed by "Knowledge Association Service Coding." Eleven of those standards — among them "Terminology for Intelligent Printing Manufacturing" — were organised for drafting or revision by the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee, and their implementation date is set for November 1, 2021.

The notice is addressed to the press and publication bureaus of all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, the Publicity Bureau of the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission, and all relevant units.

According to the notice, the work was divided under the plan for developing and revising press and publication industry standards: the National Press and Publication Standardization Technical Committee took charge of preparing five standards led by "Knowledge Association Service Coding," while the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee prepared or revised the eleven standards led by "Terminology for Intelligent Printing Manufacturing." Following review, all 16 industry standards were approved for release, with their numbers and titles listed below.

11. CY/T 246—2021 "Digital Printing—Specification for Information Exchange in Book and Periodical Production"
12. CY/T 247—2021 "Requirements for Thread-Bound Books"
13. CY/T 29—2021 (replacing CY/T 29—1999) "Requirements for Saddle-Stitched Books and Periodicals"
14. CY/T 248—2021 "Quality Requirements for Printed Flexible Transparent Film Electronic Devices"
15. CY/Z 249—2021 "Requirements for the Production of Digital Files for Colour Separation and Plate Making in Textile Screen Printing"
16. CY/T 250—2021 "Green Printing—Control Requirements for the Printing Process of Transfer Tipping Paper"

On technical jurisdiction, items 1–5 are overseen by the National Press and Publication Standardization Technical Committee, while items 6–16 fall to the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee; all 16 industry standards take effect from November 1, 2021.
