APP China’s ZeroPlastic® Cup Stock Paper Secures TÜV Rheinland Industrial Compostability Certification
On May 25, APP (China) Industrial Paper received industrial composting certification certificates from Germany’s TÜV Rheinland Group, issued through DIN CERTCO and European Bioplastics. The certification was granted by an internationally recognized third-party testing and certification body.
The certified product is APP (China) Industrial Paper’s newly developed ZeroPlastic® cup stock paper. TÜV Rheinland certified it against DIN EN 13432:2000-12 and ASTM D6400:2019-01.
Securing the compostable and degradable certificate indicates that ZeroPlastic® brand products have passed comprehensive testing and certification by multiple authoritative institutions at home and abroad, covering compostable and degradable certification, biological toxicity safety testing, POPs fluorine testing, total specific migration testing and more.
Dr. Thorsten Thao, Senior Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China, and Qiu Ruquan, Deputy General Manager of Technology at APP (China) Industrial Paper, attended the award ceremony as certificate recipients.
Amid the state’s updated plastic restriction and plastic ban measures, paper cups, paper bags, meal boxes and other items made from APP (China)’s ZeroPlastic® brand series can be recycled through re-pulping into new paper or processed through composting and degradation, maximizing resource recovery instead of incineration or landfill.
This is regarded as a solution that genuinely supports carbon neutrality and carbon reduction.
In his remarks, Qiu Ruquan said that
modern pulp and papermaking operates as a green and sustainable “big cycle,” while ZeroPlastic® brand paper creates a “small cycle” through production, consumption, recycling and re-pulping, saving substantial wood resources for the planet.
As a leading pulp and paper enterprise, APP (China) is ready to work with partners to advance the sustainable development of the Earth’s ecology and benefit future generations.
ZeroPlastic® Food Card (EPP)
The EPP food-grade eco-friendly barrier layer gives the paper surface strong barrier and heat-seal properties, eliminating the need for PE film lamination. It is suitable for directly making paper cups, paper bowls, meal boxes, soup buckets and other takeaway and catering packaging, offering a more environmentally friendly and safer packaging solution;
It contains no plastic and no fluorescent agents, and is fully recyclable (directly re-pulpable), 100% degradable and compostable. Safe and eco-friendly, it aligns with the green development trend of packaging materials.
ZeroPlastic® Oil-Proof Food Card (OPB)
No PE lamination is required, and no silicone oil or fluorine-based coating is used; the paper itself provides oil-proof, non-stick and anti-penetration performance, making it suitable for directly producing food packaging boxes, stamped meal boxes and similar items;
Its grease penetration resistance is exceptionally strong, enabled by patented graphene nano-barrier technology;
The product contains no plastic, no fluoride, no mineral oil and no fluorescent agents. It can be directly heated in a household microwave and is fully degradable, recyclable (directly re-pulpable) and compostable. Safe and eco-friendly, it is a revolutionary product that follows the trend of green sustainable development.
